Amazing yet Budget-Friendly Places to Visit (50$ per day)

When you’ve traveled extensively, you realize that some places offer great value for your money, while others can leave you with sticker shock.  I once traveled full-time for six months on a budget of $50 per day, covering everything except flights. It wasn’t easy, but i managed to have unforgettable experiences by choosing destinations where my money would go farther. In this blog, I’ll share 5 amazing and budget-friendly places to visit that provide incredible value and create lasting memories.

Thailand: The Land of Smiles

Thailand is one of my all-time favorite destinations. It offers a multitude of amazing places to visit, and during our 30-day stay, i managed to stay well under my $50 per day budget. Surprisingly, i fell in love with Phuket, despite not being big beach people. i enjoyed exploring Phuket’s Old Town, visiting Monkey Hill, and taking a boat ride to the Phi Phi Islands. Other beach destinations like Krabi and Koh Samui are also worth considering. Of course, no trip to Thailand is complete without experiencing the vibrant city of Bangkok, where you can catch a Muay Thai fight and enjoy rooftop drinks with a stunning view. However, my favorite place in Thailand was Chiang Mai, a city in the northern part of the country. Chiang Mai offers a more temperate climate and a variety of activities, such as visiting night markets, taking Thai cooking classes, and exploring the surrounding nature, including a visit to the Elephant Nature Park

Slovenia: A Hidden Gem in Europe

Slovenia, a small country roughly the size of New Jersey, offers a diverse array of experiences at an affordable price. While Lake Bled is the iconic destination, make sure to venture beyond and explore the Julian Alps, visit the picturesque Vintgar Gorge, and sample locally produced honey. The capital city of Ljubljana is extremely walkable and has a charming old town. Accommodation prices in Slovenia are reasonable, and public transportation, such as trams and buses, is affordable.

Poland: Rich Culture and Affordable Experiences

Auschwitz Concentration camp

Poland is a gold mine of experiences without the hefty price tag. Cities like Krakow offer well-preserved medieval cores, historical significance with attractions like the Schindler Factory and Auschwitz Concentration Camp, and a delicious food scene. Traditional Polish dishes like bigos (meat and cabbage stew), crispy potato pancakes, and pierogi (dumplings) are affordable and satisfying. Accommodation prices in Poland are reasonable, and public transportation, such as trams, is affordable.

Costa Rica: A Traveler’s Dream

Costa Rica is a paradise for nature lovers, with lush jungles and breathtaking beaches. While it may be slightly pricier than some other Central American countries, it still offers great value for the experiences it provides. Puerto Viejo, located on the Caribbean coast, offers a laid-back vibe, beautiful beaches, and thrilling adventures like whitewater rafting. Costa Rica caters to all types of travelers, whether you seek adrenaline-packed adventures or more relaxing pursuits. Accommodation options in Costa Rica vary, from budget-friendly hostels to mid-range guesthouses.

Cambodia: Underrated and Affordable

Cambodia is a vastly underappreciated and affordable destination. A visit to Siem Reap is a must to explore the majestic temples of Angkor Wat. Hiring a local guide can enhance the experience and provide historical insights. Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh, is also worth a visit to learn about the country’s history, including the brutal genocide that occurred during the Khmer Rouge regime. Cambodia uses the US dollar as its currency, and the locals are known for their warm hospitality.

There are more places to go. I will cover some more places in the next blogs. Also, I will describe more about those places one by one. Stay with me.
